The former Deputy Director of the Executive Protective Service (EPS), T. Darlington George was Thursday sent to jail by Criminal Court ‘A” Presiding Judge Blamo Dixon for failure to file a valid criminal insurance bond.

George and his bodyguard James Tamba will be incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison. Judge Dixon said the court will accept bonds from any insurance company operating under the laws of the Republic of Liberia that has met the requirements of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL).

It can be recalled that the former EPS deputy boss George and Tamba were on September 16 dismissed by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and ordered to turn themselves over to the Ministry of Justice for questioning for allegedly beating and wounding a woman who resides in Barnesville Estate.

George was charged with Criminal Facilitation, while co-defendant Tamba was charged with aggravated assault, a felony of the second degree.

According to Judge Dixon, the court demands a bond of US$5,000 from defendant Tamba or property or valuable statement bond, while defendant George is charged with the alleged crime of Criminal Facilitation, also a felony of the second degree, and will file a bond valued US$1,000.

The case was initially filed at the Barnesville Magisterial Court for prosecution, but was transferred to Criminal Court A” at the Temple of Justice due to the magisterial court’s lack of jurisdiction over the case.

Meanwhile Judge Dixon has ordered the clerk of the court to immediately issue a commitment and have same placed in the hand of the Sheriff of the court until the defendants shall have filed a valid bond.
