Madam President, How Do We Welcome The New Salary Scheme ?

When news about the latest presidential salary scheme started simmering, many skeptics soon prematurely concluded that it was another hot air from an administration that could not enforce any policy or stamp its authority on a trend that had no expectation of changing course since the government from the Executive echelon was glaring viewing its back shadow of its end time.

But as the political barometer controlled by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf remains a study not easily memorized despite being crusaded in the universe of utopia by some with impressive credentials of doubts and challenge, President has swung the axe and the atmosphere is becoming unfavorable le for some perceived victims of achievement.

While most cynics would believe that the manner and form in which the latest salary scheme demarcated the landscape; covering the cabinet members including the President and the Vice President as the untouchables, they remain struck in the arena of unsettled-mind that those affected can only be quiet because the crunch weighs gravely on them in that they are all political appointees and serve that the will and pleasure of the President who hires and fires.

What is most pain-stricken is the for long unattended-to plight of the forgotten civil servants who cannot seen the reflection of the light at the budget-tunnel, in spite of their praiseworthy services, indeed, the budget through the stakeholders responsible for the carving and supervision as well as final check and balance, have not realized that they must be thought of positively by means of salary increment as being accorded those with much more.

Although the morale stigma has just begun to loom, as those imported bureaucrats whose only solo is making sacrifice for the motherland at the expense of the luxuries they turned their backs on in their various comfort zones; yet it becomes ironical whenever some of them are squeezed out of their position, then and there the public is entertained with all the unthinkable sad stories they in the first place would dare slip through their lips for public consumption.

Be it good feeling or bad feeling, the die is cast, and while others are looking through the cracks of injustice enshrined in the latest salary scheme, the people are watching and studying keenly the propelling wisdom oiling the wheels of the true image that gave birth to the latest scheme amidst the weeping, wailing and quizzical smile.
