The Executive Governor of Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), Dr. J. Mills Jones has reiterated his determination to reduce poverty in our country despite of mounting criticisms from some quarters regarding the CBL micro-credit program. The CBL micro-credit program across the country which is geared towards empowering small businesses and marketers has helped to boost Governor Jones popularity among ordinary Liberians.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the great people of Liberia, the nation and the CBL and reminded committed to the task of fighting poverty”, Dr, Jones noted, adding that much has been achieved. He further added he wouldn’t rest until more are achieved in the fight against poverty across the country.
Speaking recently at the formal opening of a Multi-National Credit Union office in Tubmanburg, about thirty miles from Monrovia, the Dr. Jones welcomed what he described as constructive criticism, saying that he will not be moved by unfounded disparagement.
Governor Jones pledged the CBL commitment to work with the various key actors in the nation’s economic sector, and warned against tribalism.
