Maryland To Screen Travelers, Says Acting Supt.

The Acting Superintendent of Maryland County, Nathaniel Toe, has urged travelers bound for Maryland County to ensure that they are scrutinized medically before entering the County. He said despite the increase in Ebola cases in Liberia, the disease has not been reported in any part of Maryland County, and that authorities of the county are putting in place measures to ensure that the county remains Ebola free. The Maryland County Superintendent made the observation Tuesday in a telephone interview on a local radio from Harper, Maryland County on the prevention of Ebola in his area. He explained that the washing of hands at various government facilities and private entities as well as residential areas is being adhered to by residents of the county. He clarified that authorities of the county are in no way stopping Liberians from entering Maryland County, but noted that it was necessary for drastic actions to be taken to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus in that part of the country.

Superintendent Toe emphasized that preventive measures are crucial in the fight against the spread of deadly disease, which has yet to hit some counties in the Southeastern region of the country.
