Police Arrest 17 Illegal Drug Users in Liberia

About seventeen suspected criminals and drugs users have been arrested in the Duwazon community located in Lower Margibi County. The suspected criminals were arrested by members of the Community watch team early Tuesday morning and turned over to the Liberia Nation Police.

Substances such as marijuana, cocaine, along with some Liberian citizens voting cards, and bank books were also seized from the suspected criminals and the drugs users. Speaking to FrontPageAfrica Tuesday at the Zone 8 deport in ELWA, Paynesville, some of the suspected criminals said they were falsely arrested by the community dwellers, flogged and stripped naked by the angry mob.

On the scene, most of the men suspected of criminality were seen bleeding with blood from their head, and other body parts as a result of the fogging they received from the community watch team members who arrested them.

“They beat us and tied us, no Police was around to come to our aid, they took off all our cloths and took us to the Roberts field depot and the Police refused to take us in the cell because of the way they beat on us” Clarence Weah one of suspects narrated. According to him, he is living in VOA and has not been engaged in any criminal activities including the taking in of any dangerous substances.

Another arrested suspect only identified as Daniel said he has been in the VOA area protecting one lady house in the area which is under construction and narrated that he and his four brothers were pickup from the house they are living by the community dwellers.

“I was in bed and I heard people knocking cutlasses, saying oh let them there oh … Let them there and that’s how they arrested us and beat us around 2am, chapping people like this” Daniel said showing his wounds.

He said despite efforts by them to explain to the community dwellers they refused to listen to their concern but only went on to beat on them. Prince Dolo another suspect said he is a designer and lives around the Bible Way Mission School in Lower Margibi County and was arrested by the watch team early Tuesday morning while going home from a club.

“I am a designer, I do house Pillow design, unfortunately last night I was coming home and met some guys on the street and they said they are community watch team people group, and I told them I am not aware of their group, they grabbed me and told me that their representative Roland Cooper gave them order to arrest people who selling dangerous substances in the area.
