Police Declare 15 Persons Wanted for Nimba violence

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has declared 15 persons wanted for their alleged connection with the recent rioting in Yekepa, Nimba County. Police spokesman named those wanted are Saye Tee Suweh, Jett G.Forgay, Korkar Saye Korte, Peter S. Zuweh, Paul Gantu, Lawrence Twen and Harnson Newah. Others are Ernest Gbowin, Abel Nyanamah, Sylvester Moore, Joseph Suah, Anthony Weegon, Lucia, Eric Bentor and Othello Bentor.
Collins said the LNP has already arrested and charged 41 suspects for crimes ranging from rioting, armed robbery and arson, among others, and forwarded them to the Magisterial Court in Sanquellie, Nimba County.
He said the recent violent demonstration in Zolowee, Nimba County left millions of dollars worth of property damaged. The protesters took to the streets in demand of benefits allegedly owed them by ArcelorMittal, a mining company in the area. He added that the LNP has restored calm to the county.
Meanwhile, the police have retrieved three truckloads of ArcelorMittal looted property, including laptops, bags of cement and gasoline.
