Supreme Court Lifts Ban On Justice Minister Tah

The Honorable Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia has lifted the suspension of Liberia's Solicitor General and Justice Minister Christiana Tah. In October of last year, the Honorable Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia suspended Minister Christiana Tah for Contempt for releasing the Managing Editor of the Frontpage Africa Newspaper, Rodney Sieh from detention.

She was also banned from legally practicing in any court of competent jurisdiction as per the benefit of her suspension.The Honorable Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia requested Minister Christiana Tah to answer question on why she ordered the release of Frontpage Africa Newspaper's Managing Editor, Rodney Sieh.

According to Minister Christiana Tah, her decision to release Rodney Sieh was on "Compassionate Grounds" as part of her duties as Attorney-General of the Republic of Liberia.Frontpage Africa's Managing Editor, Rodney Sieh, was on trial for a $1.5 million libel fine which former Agriculture Minister, J. Chris Toe filed against him for damage to his character.Her suspension which raised questions for the government was whether President Sirleaf would have asked the court to reconsider its decision.
